Ustawa z dnia 8 grudnia 2006 r. o finansowym wsparciu niektórych przedsięwzięć mieszkaniowych dała Gminie Barlinek możliwość ubiegania się z tzw. Funduszu Dopłat o środki na pokrycie części kosztów przedsięwzięcia polegającego na tworzeniu lokali mieszkalnych na wynajem. Gmina złożyła wniosek, który został rozpatrzony pozytywnie i . została zawarta umowa pomiędzy Bankiem Gospodarstwa Krajowego, obsługującym Fundusz, a Gminą.

Dofinansowanie z Funduszu wynosi 80 % kosztów przedsięwzięcia co stanowi kwotę 18 669 814,22 zł. Dodatkowo Gmina pozyskała środki w wysokości 1 833 000,00 zł z Rządowego Funduszu Rozwoju Mieszkalnictwa. Wartość całkowita przedsięwzięcia to 23 337 267,79 zł.

W wyniku realizacji zadania powstało 48 lokali mieszkalnych, boksy garażowe w garażu podziemnym oraz 28 miejsc parkingowych.
